Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great fame with the stories that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift began to develop an interest in music in her early years and swiftly progressed from participating in shows for children and then making her first public appearance the front of a crowd. She was age 11 when she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game. the following year she picked up the guitar and started writing songs. Swift was a singer who took influences from the music of Shania Twain and that of her band the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of country music, wrote the original songs she wrote to express her experience with alienation. Swift's family relocated in Tennessee Pennsylvania when she was 13, so that she could spend more time pursuing the country music label in Nashville.
